Communication “From collection to attention: decentering the gaze on the living through the imagination” – Study Day Interfaces and Environmental Images: Ecologies of Data and Digitized Worlds (MSH Val de Loire, June 11, 2026)

Le jeudi 11 juin 2026, je communiquerai : Communication « De la collection à l’attention : décentrer le regard sur le vivant par l’imaginaire » – Journée d’études Interfaces et Images environnementales : Écologies des données et mondes numérisés (MSH Val de Loire, 11 juin 2026)

Cette proposition de communication, intitulée « De la collection à l’attention : décentrer le regard sur le vivant par l’image, le récit et l’imaginaire », vise à interroger la manière dont les images et les interfaces numériques façonnent nos relations de pouvoir avec le vivant non-humain. Tassanee Alleau y articule sa réflexion autour de trois axes principaux : une critique de l’herbier historique comme outil de domination et de logique extractiviste, la nécessité de passer d’une accumulation quantitative de données à une approche empathique et systémique favorisant un « décentrement du regard », et enfin la présentation de protocoles artistiques concrets (ateliers RADIS) qui transforment la donnée brute en une expérience sensible pour reconfigurer notre attention au vivant. L’intervention défend l’idée que les futures interfaces environnementales doivent devenir des espaces de négociation politique et narrative, intégrant le vivant comme sujet plutôt que comme simple objet de données.

On Thursday, June 11, 2026, I will present: “From Collection to Attention: Decentering Our View of the Living Through the Imaginary” – Workshop on Interfaces and Environmental Images: Ecologies of Data and Digitized Worlds (MSH Val de Loire, June 11, 2026)

This presentation, entitled “From Collection to Attention: Decentering Our View of the Living Through Image, Narrative, and the Imaginary,” aims to examine how images and digital interfaces shape our power relations with non-human life. Tassanee Alleau structures her reflection around three main axes: a critique of the historical herbarium as a tool of domination and extractivist logic, the need to move from a quantitative accumulation of data to an empathetic and systemic approach that fosters a « decentering of perspective, » and finally, the presentation of concrete artistic protocols (RADIS workshops) that transform raw data into a sensory experience to reconfigure our attention to the living world. The presentation argues that future environmental interfaces must become spaces for political and narrative negotiation, integrating the living world as a subject rather than simply as an object of data.
